COVID-19 Flexible Grading Policy for Spring 2020
On March 30, 2020, the CUNY Board of Trustees approved the University’s Special COVID-19 Flexible Grading Policy, on the recommendation of the CUNY Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) and informed by consultation with campus presidents and deans, the University Faculty Senate, and the University Student Senate. This policy applies to Spring 2020 only.

The Flexible Grading Policy is designed to provide students maximum flexibility as they navigate the challenges associated with the University’s move to distance learning and the effects of New York City's social distancing guidelines on their personal lives. All students have the ability to opt in to utilize this policy for any and all of their CUNY courses, including undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral courses.
A faculty member does not award a CR/NC grade to the student. CR/NC is a choice that students will make in CUNYfirst after they have seen the letter grades that they have earned. Students are strongly encouraged to seek advisement regarding the new grading policy, in order to make the most well-informed decision when choosing whether to opt in.
When fielding questions about the CR/NC grading process, please refer students to the information in the information for students page developed by CUNY Central, and remind them that for specific questions about how this might impact their major, their standing, their financial aid, or anything else, they should reach out to the appropriate office:
